that they are wretched by all measures, that they only deserve hell rather than heaven, and these are those that does receive the blessing of the new covenant (Salvation) and will see the glory of God revealed to them with his holy truths that they will learn and know. c) Matthew 5:4 - Blessed They That Mourn - These are those who grieve over their sinful condition, over their lack of spiritual life because of their sins, their weak flesh that has separated them selves from the blessings of God, that holds back their relationship with him. As Jesus said; the flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing. But those believers who mourn God will bless them by comforting them, and reinsuring them of his grace & mercy, of their salvation. d) Matthew 5:5 - Blessed Are the Meek - This is no way means weak, as our Lord Jesus Christ was not weak , he was meek, and meek in the dictionary actually means a mildness, a quietness in nature as we all should be, and not prideful or arrogant to which is the total opposite of "MEEK". So the believers that has a mildness and quietness of nature, they will inherit the earth to which actually means, our spiritual good, to be over comers of this wicked world, to not give into its lust and desires, as many people do. So in a sense we have conquered this world, i.e. inherited it as far as not being of this world even though we are in this world. e) Matthew 5:6 - Blessed, They that Hunger & Thirst for Righteousness - These believers will strongly desire the things of God, the will of God and his Holy Ways. This is a condition of the heart, the heart towards others in their times of need, i.e. compassion. And those who shows mercy WILL receive Mercy from God, so IF we show mercy to others, God himself will show us mercy as well to which we do not deserve. g) Matthew 5:8 - Blessed are the Pure in Heart - These believer must have a pure heart, a undefiled heart, a heart that is not corrupt, vengeful or full of hate, but must be a heart of love, kindness, and seek the good of others more than that of their selves, they must not be oppressive towards others or a lack of compassion towards the poor, the widow, the orphans, or those who are in their times of need, such as sorrow, depression and so on. If they have a pure heart they will see God, in other words God will abide in them, since those with a pure heart abides in God, in Jesus Christ. h) Matthew 5:9 - Blessed Are The Peacemakers - These believers seek peace, and not debates, not strife or divisions but peace, in so that unity among their families, congregations, communities, companies and even the governments may be achieved. These are not those who acts out of rage nor anger, in their communications with others, even when others may not be interested in making peace, the believer seeks the good of the whole but only according to Gods Holy Words and his Holy Truths. They that are peace makers rather than causing strife are called the sons of God, the children of God, they are of God. i) Matthew 5:10 - Blessed Those that are Persecuted - Those who try to live Godly lives, to share their faith with others will be persecuted in one form or another, they will be excluded, hated, and treated as they are the holier than thy at least, if not also called every dirty name in the book, kept from job opportunities and so on. And they that are persecuted will achieve salvation, "The Kingdom of God" and God via Jesus Christ will abide in them and they in him. j) Matthew 5:11-12 - Rejoice and Be Exceedingly Glad - These believers in Jesus Christ that are hated by all nations, even by your own relatives
and family members just because they follow Jesus Christ and live Holy lives shall be blessed beyond imagination. For they persecuted the prophets, the disciples and the apostles and Jesus Christ that we before them as well. All those who follow Jesus Christ, the will and the ways of God shall be persecuted but great is their reward so Jesus said be EXCEEDINGLY GLAD, rejoice in the Lord because they are counted worthy to suffer for the name sake of Jesus Christ. Peter was beaten and put in prison and yet he rejoiced because he was counted worthy to suffer for the name sake of Jesus Christ. k) Summary of The

Murder
Begins
in the
Heart -
Matthew
5:21-26 - (Luke 12:57-59) - To Index ^ a) Matthew 5:21 - The Danger of Judgment - In times of Old to which is still in effect in our times, that if a person murder, that they will be in danger of Judgment, that is Hell. That is one of the Ten commandments, "You Shall Not Murder". (Definition of Murder) - Easton's Bible Dictionary -
— Wilful murder was distinguished from accidental homicide, and was invariably visited with capital punishment (Numbers 35:16,18,21,31; Leviticus 24:17). This law in its principle is founded on the fact of man's having been made in the likeness of God (Genesis 9:5,6; John 8:44; 1 John 3:12,15). The Mosiac law prohibited any compensation for murder or the reprieve of the murderer (Exodus 21:12,14; Deuteronomy 19:11,13; 2 Samuel 17:25; 20:10). Two witnesses were required in any capital case (Numbers 35:19-30; Deuteronomy 17:6-12). If the murderer could not be discovered, the city nearest the scene of the murder was required to make expiation for the crime committed (Deuteronomy 21:1-9). These offences also were to be punished with death, (1) striking a parent; (2) cursing a parent; (3) kidnapping (Exodus 21:15-17; Deuteronomy 27:16). b) Matthew 5:22 - Angry without a Cause - This is a to be angry with another without a just cause, a bible cause. There are 2 types of anger,
1) sinful anger as satan displays or a 2) righteous anger as Jesus and God has displayed. We are not allowed to be angry just because we feel like it, we must use self control in this area. Those that are angry without a just cause are in danger of hell. Or in Jewish cases the way their laws work in the Jewish courts. c) Matthew 5:23-24 - Make Peace with Our Brother - If we bring our gift to the alter and we remember that our brother has something against us,
our gift is of no value until we reconcile with our brother, make peace with our brother, and then our gift will be acceptable to the Lord. d) Matthew 5:25-26 - Settle Matters with our Adversary Quickly - If we owe anyone we should agree, settle the matter out of court, so that our adversary don' continue with legal action against us. And then our adversary may even have our wages garnished. e) Summary of Murder Begins in the Heart -
Matthew
5:21-26 - (Luke 12:57-59) - 1) In times of Old, Murder was only spoken of in a outward act, but 2) Jesus Christ went further and spoke of Murder as a inward act, committing murder with the heart as well, being angry without a Just Cause 3) so Jesus tells us that our gift will be acceptable if we settle matters with a brother that has something against us first and 4) even when it comes to owing someone, that we are to settle the matter out of court with our adversary before our adversary takes us to court.

We must not be given into the sins of adultery, if it be our eyes, our hands, or any other body part and even our hearts that causes the sin, in order to save our souls from hell. c) Summary of Adultery in the Heart - Matthew 5:27-30 - 1) In the times of Old, the 10 Commandments mainly spoke of the outward act of Adultery, the act a person takes in the process of committing Adultery, and Jesus continues to tell us about the act of adultery actually starts in the heart, the inward act and not just a outward act of adultery, 2) and Jesus shows us that we must shut off, ignore our senses that causes the sin of adultery, if it be our eyes, our hands and our hearts, we must reject the feelings, the thoughts, the temptations that can lead us to adultery acts of the heart, if we want to save our souls from hell.

Marriage
is
Sacred &
Binding
-
Matthew
5:31-32 - (Matthew 19:9; Mark 10:11-12; Luke 16:19) - To Index ^ a) Matthew 5:31 - Divorce, a Punishment - (See Matthew 19:8 & Deuteronomy 24:1) - Jesus here tells us that in the beginning, divorce was not allowed, but later on because of the hardness of the Jewish Hearts, Moses allowed divorce, for any reason, in allowing that anything goes type of divorce, is a punishment in it self, that actually in turn causes the family, the spouses & children to suffer, rather than be blessed. b) Matthew 5:32 - Divorce Only Allowed because of Sexual Immorality - Jesus tells us that he allows only one reason for divorce, that is for sexual immorality, that is unfaithfulness, (adultery), and this can even mean sex beyond the normal realm of intimacy such as overly wild sex, that is outside of purity, that is using so-called adult sex toys and such to which defiles the marriage, the marriage bed. c) Summary of Marriage is Sacred & Binding - Matthew
5:31-32 - (Matthew 19:9; Mark 10:11-12; Luke 16:19) - (Also See Matthew 19:8 & Deuteronomy 24:1) - 1) God did not allow divorce at the beginning of his creation of mankind, but because of the hardness of the Jewish hearts, God allowed the man to divorce his wife for any reason, it was a punishment to them, As we know that divorce not only hurts both spouses but it hurts their children as well, and divides the family unit up. 2) but Jesus only allows divorce for reasons of sexual immorality such as adultery to which is a defilement in the marriage and breaking of a promise to God and to their spouse.

Jesus Forbids Oaths - Matthew 5:33-37 - To Index ^
a)
Matthew
5:33
-
Do
not
Swear
falsely
- In
times of
old, the
people
were
told not
to swear
falsely,
to lie,
to bear
false
witness,
regarding
their
oaths,
their
promises,
for
example;
I swear
to God
that I
will not
allow my
cattle
on your
land.
This is
a rough
example
of what
the
scripture
is
about.
b)
Matthew
5:34-36
-
Do not
Swear at
all
-
The
reason
why
Jesus
told us
not to
swear at
all, if
it be
false or
true is
that, it
is very
for us
imperfect
people
to keep
our
oaths,
even if
our
intent
is
sincere
and
honest.
Things
come up
and
change
many
times
over, or
that we
may
misunderstand
the
situations,
that can
cause
our
oaths to
be
broken
even
though
we
intended
to keep
our
oaths.
So in
that is
why we
should
not
swear by
God, his
throne,
or of
heaven
etc.
If our
oaths
are not
kept to
the
letter
that
would
disgrace
God,
heaven
or what
ever or
who ever
we swore
by. And
with
that we
do not
own
anything,
not even
our own
Bodies,
not we
can not
swear
against
or for
anything
that we
do not
own.
c)
Matthew
5:37
-
Our
words be
Yes, Or
No
- So
instead
of
swearing
when we
are
asked
something
we
either
just
simply
say yes
or no,
without
swearing.
As
Believers
in Jesus
Christ,
we can
say
either
yes we
will
tell the
truth,
or no we
wont
tell the
truth
for
example.
d)
Summary
of Jesus
Forbids
Oaths
-
Matthew
5:33-37
-
1) In
times of
Old we
were not
allowed
to swear
falsely
but 2)
Jesus
told us
not to
swear at
all, to
not do
oaths,
or put
fourth
promises
no
matter
how
sincere
we may
be,
because
we are
imperfect
people,
and
things
can
change
that can
cause us
to break
our
promises,
and in
that we
are not
allowed
to Swear
by God,
his
throne
etc
because
if our
promises
are
broken,
then
that
would
disgrace
God, or
anyone
thing or
anyone
that we
have
sworn by
3) so
with
that we
should
only
answer
people
with
either
yes or
no, and
never
say I
swear by
this or
that, so
that we
are not
made out
to be
liars
either. 20)
Go the
Second
Mile -
Matthew
5:38-42 - (Luke 6:29-31) - To Index ^ a) Matthew 5:38 - Of Old, Eye For an Eye - (See Ex 21:24, & Lev 24:20) - In the Old testament, God did allow revenge for example if a person caused an accident that took out your eye, he was allowed to take out one of your eyes, but often, the Jews and even some early Christians did more than that to revenge them selves of injury done to them. b) Matthew 5:39a - Do not Resist a Evil Person - This meaning is the same as do not return evil for evil, do not use revenge or outrage to the other person even though they use evil against us, if we do, we become just as evil hearted as the other person that has done evil to us. c) Matthew 5:39b-41 - Give the extra to him - These scriptures are regarding persecution towards us because we are Christians. So if some one hits us on one cheek, then turn the other cheek to let him hit the other one, or if someone wants to sue us for our shirt, then we should give to him our jacket or coat as well, And let us not be other wise even in our private lives, because resentment and hatefulness, (Strife) starts up if we do. d) Matthew 5:42 - Let him Borrow from you - This is referring to those who are in need, that through our Love to the Lord and to our neighbor we shall have compassion on the poor, those in need, that we shall treat them with kindness, & respect, we must not insult them when we let them borrow from us, and this is showing love to our Neighbor, and letting the light of Jesus Christ shine. e) Summary of Go the Second Mile - Matthew 5:38-42 - (Luke 6:29-31) - 1) In times of Old, God did allow revenge, (See Ex 21:24, & Lev 24:20),
2) but not anymore as Jesus Christ said "do not resist an Evil Person", and as he said do not return evil for evil, because if we do, we become just like the evil person with strife, and resentment 3) so if someone sues us for our shirt we should give them our coat to, as personal property has no value, but love and kindness does 4) so if someone, especially the poor that is in need we should let them borrow from us, in doing so is showing love to our neighbor and if we do not look down on the poor that is showing kindness and respect to him as well. |
